The big news for BMW in 2008 is the release of the highly-anticipated 1 Series coupe. Inspired by BMW's ground-breaking 2002, the 1 Series is based on the previous generation's chassis, sharing suspension and interior bits while offering totally new bodywork and drivetrains. The top of the line 135i sports BMW's award-winning 3-liter twin turbo inline six, which produces 300 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque. The fifth generation of BMW’s luxury-sports sedan, the 3 Series, continues where the 2007 model left off, with the sole exception of the automatic-equipped versions sporting paddle shifting (only available with the M-sport package). The 335xi is BMW's AWD version of their 335i coupe. Also new for 2008 is the all-new BMW M3, in both coupe and sedan versions. Both sport a 4-liter V8 that produces and asounding 414 horsepower.

BMW tends to offer lease specials to get people into their vehicles. The automaker covers maintenance for 4 years/50,000 miles, which makes leasing an especially attractive option.

For the last three years, BMW has won Automotive Lease Guide’s Luxury Brand Residual Value Award — BMWs are expected to retain their value better than any other luxury make. Edmunds.com awarded its Editors' Most Wanted accolade to the BMW 3 Series and stated that "Last year's model was nearly perfect. This year's redesigned 3 Series is even better." The 3 Series also earned a spot on Car and Driver’s 10Best Cars list for the 15th year in a row.
