Changes in the Ford Cars Line-Up

For 2008, Ford presents the Taurus X, a renamed and refreshed Ford Freestyle with a more powerful engine and more standard equipment. The Ford F-250 and F-350 are completely redesigned. The Ford F-450 is all new for 2008. The Ford F-350, F-450 and F-550 Chassis all get a new diesel engine option for applications such as towing, which require high torque. The Escape Hybrid gets a redesign that brings a new interior, one new paint color, unique Hybrid instrument panel and gauges and an aux-jack standard on all radios.

Like GM, Ford is notorious for offering massive discounts to move merchandise. The generosity of the incentives generally vary by model, but the best deals generally can be found on SUVs, which have decreased in demand due to high gas prices. Ford has recently begun to offer specials on the Escape Hybrid, which has been selling slower than anticipated.

News on Ford Cars

Ford seems to be in the press lately more for its financial woes than its products. It's currently undergoing a restructuring program, dubbed "The Way Forward" plan, in an attempt to right-size itself and ultimately make vehicles that are more attractive to the consumer. Meanwhile, the Mustang and the Explorer both received the Edmunds.com Editors Most Wanted awards for 2006. Also, two of its vehicles, the Explorer Sport Trac and F-150, topped their respective segments in the J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality Study, a survey that tracks purchaser satisfaction after 90 days of ownership.
