The 2007 model year is a busy one for Lexus. The manufacturer rolls out a new ES, the ES 350, which replaces the ES 330. The new car is based on the Toyota Avalon and boasts many superior technological features, including a noise-reducing motor mount that has electronic solenoids to reduce engine vibration. Also for 2007, the popular RX SUV gets an update; it will be known as the RX350, instead of the RX330, taking its name from a larger 270-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine. Lexus will attempt to remain on top of the luxury hybrid market with the new GS450h. It’s the first rear-wheel-drive hybrid and will emphasize power over efficiency — it is equipped with a gasoline engine/electric motor combination (the model actually has two electric motors) that will produce 339 horsepower. And further out in the year, Lexus is set to launch a new flagship, the LS460, which will also come in a long-wheelbase version — this will compete with the likes of the BMW 7 series and Mercedes-Benz S series.

Lexus has special finance and lease offers from time-to-time. Unlike its parent, Toyota, you’ll never find cash back offers, which tend to have the effect of eroding brand image and resale value. Discounts are especially prevalent at the end of model and calendar years.

Lexus may be getting into the high performance sports cars business. At the 2005 Detroit Auto Show, the manufacturer unveiled the LF-A concept vehicle. It's a two passenger model and somewhat comparable to a Porsche 911 in size. The engine is said to achieve more than 500 horsepower in the 200 mph range. If produced, the LF-A would come out most likely for the 2008 model year. And definitely geared towards the mainstream shopper, a new sports wagon with 3-row seating (dubbed the VX430) is set to premiere in early 2007 as either a 2007 or 2008 model. Also, the LX470 SUV will be replaced in 2008 with the JX470, a body-on-frame SUV based on the Toyota Tundra.
