Mazda introduces a new crossover, the CX-7, for the 2007 model year. It is built on the Mazda6 platform and has plenty of oomph – it has the same 244-horsepower turbocharged engine found in the MazdaSpeed6 sport sedan. A larger crossover, the CX-9, is due out in the fall of 2006 and will seat seven people. This is to replace the MPV minivan, which will be discontinued in 2006. Also, a hybrid version of the Tribute will come out in 2006 as a 2007 model. And finally, a MazdaSpeed version of the Mazda3 debuts for 2007. It will be equipped with a turbocharged 4-cylinder, 247 horsepower engine.

Mazda tends to offer more incentives compared to other Japanese automakers. However, it has been attempting to wean itself off discounts to raise its brand image. Currently, on average, Mazda spends a little less than $2,000 on incentives per vehicle.
