FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
|
| Q: | How does my LoJack System work - is it always "on"? |
| A: | Your LoJack System is always in the receiving mode, ready to be activated. Filing a stolen vehicle report to the police will alert them to activate the LoJack System in your vehicle. Your LoJack System will then transmit a silent signal to Police Tracking Computers. Many police cars as well as police aircraft in LoJack coverage areas are equipped with LoJack Police Tracking Computers.

| Q: | How do I know if my LoJack system is working? |
| A: | Your LoJack is tested and certified to be in working condition at the time of installation. After that, LoJack recommends an inspection of the tranmitter every two years. Inspections cost $39* and can be arranged through your local LoJack office. *Pricing is subject to change without notice.

| Q: | What do I do if I believe my LoJack requires service? |
| A: | Give your local LoJack office a call and you can schedule an inspection for your LoJack. To better assist you, please make sure you have your LoJack Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) available for the LoJack Representative at the time of the call.
|
| Q: | Does my car need to be on for the LoJack system to work? |
| A: | No. The LoJack unit constantly draws a very small amount of power from your vehicle's battery. Should your battery be disconnected, LoJack's back up battery will provide power.
|
| Q: | What should I do if my vehicle is involved in an accident? |
| A: | If your vehicle sustains damage as a result of an accident, you should call your local LoJack office to schedule an inspection. This inspection is required to ensure your the unit is in working condition and to maintain the LoJack warranty coverage.
|
| Q: | What happens when I sell my vehicle? Can I transfer my LoJack to my new vehicle? |
| A: | Your LoJack unit is not transferable from one vehicle to another, as the serial number on your LoJack unit is registered by the police to the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) of your vehicle. However once installed, LoJack may enhance your vehicle's resale value as the purchaser of your vehicle can register as the new owner (subject to fulfilling the terms of the LoJack second owner program).
|
| Q: | Will my insurance company offer me a discount if I have LoJack? |
| A: | Many insurance companies do offer a discount for LoJack. Be sure to forward the Lojack Insurance Certificate to your insurance company to see if you qualify for a discount.
|
| Q: | Can car thieves find my LoJack and beat the system? |
| A: | The LoJack transmitter is very small - about the size of a chalkboard eraser - so it can be hidden in 20-30 different places in your vehicle. This makes it very difficult for thieves to find your LoJack.
|
| Q: | Why is there no exterior marking on the vehicle stating it has LoJack? Couldn't a sticker saying I have LoJack act as a theft deterrent? |
| A: | LoJack is not intended to be a deterrent. The major benefit of the system is that the presence of the LoJack unit is not disclosed to the thief. This means a greater likelihood of rapid recovery and minimal damage. In fact, roughly 25% of the recoveries with LoJack result in an arrest. You not only get your car back, but you may also get the extra benefit of taking a criminal off the street! |
